This application comprises of numerous servers that are clustered together to exchange data between their system memories at Multi lane PCI Express connectivity bandwidth. This turns out to be a more powerful architecture when packet size is small as is the case in most data base applications.
In this case, though the underlying technology of PCI Express architecture allows for 255 of these servers clustered in this manner, in reality it is expected that this would consist of a maximum of 8 servers.
